Was working in Paris year 2003 on a movie later released as Unleashed in the States and Danny the Dog for the rest of the world. One day, we took a detour and worked on a Chinese TVC on the roof of some building with a clear view of the tower. I was bored. So took this shot for fun.

While working on HERO, we spent a great deal of time at Hien Dian, on their lots shooting all the castle scenes. Back then...yea..2000...the town next to the studio lots was quite small. Breakfast for the locals came in the form of baked Chinese tortas. I think they were like half an RMB each. Plus the usual hot soy milk and all that...

The flying over the lake sequence was shot at Jiuzhaiguo in Sichuan. This shot was taken during October when we were there when the fall foilage showed its color. Situated at 9000 feets and up, this location featured breath taking crystal clear lakes...

Hengdian Studio

HERO and all its glory

Well this is the lot where we shot HERO. Heng Dian is a good seven hours car ride from Shanghai. Desipte the distance, it is one of the busiest studio facilites in China. Hundreds of TV series are shot there non-stop year round. Movies like HERO and The Promise are also shot there.
