At first its the beach that draws us... But Paradise doesn’t end there. Cancun offers fine cuisine through a vast assortment of international restaurants, luxurious hotels, thrilling nightlife, excellent shopping at the many duty-free malls and artisan markets where bartering is the key to a cheap price. This city is also the jumping off point for exploring the ancient, mysterious world of the Mayans. For nature-lovers, there is the wonder of the world’s second largest barrier reef, and numerous freshwater cenotes provide incredible snorkeling and diving. Exciting, exotic, slow or fast, diverse and fun, Cancun has something to offer everyone. |
| | Dolphins Dolphin Discovery sails daily from Playa Langosta and Playa Tortugas to the company's dock on Isla Mujeres. There swim with the dolphins. Program includes an instruction video, a 30-minute swim and time to explore the island. Contact (998) 883-0777 or 883-0779. |
| | Water Sports Cancun definitely lives up to its reputation as a water sports capital. Here you can scuba dive, snorkel, windsurf, parasail, kayak, water ski, jet ski, fish, swim with the dolphins or just enjoy the beach. Most of the action takes place on the northern beaches and in Laguna Nichupté, a large lagoon with fresh and salt water located between the mainland and the Hotel Zone. This combination of ocean and lagoon is why Cancun has so much to offer in the way of water sports. Whatever your water sport, there are lots of places to get you started. |
| | Quad Biking There are plenty of tours and cruises that take you around Cancun and the surrounding areas. If you are interested in going a tour, check with the travel agency or your hotel for details. |
| | Snorkelling & Swimming Snorkeling is an easy way to see the underwater sights; you don’t need a lot of equipment or training. There are a number of excellent snorkeling trips offered in Cancun and along the Riviera Maya coast. Snorkeling tours should provide you with good quality mask, fins and lifejacket. |
| | Don't get robbed The official currency of Mexico is the peso, but many places along the Riviera Maya accept dollars. Credit cards are often not accepted in small establishments so it is wise to travel with cash or travelers checks. In Playa del Carmen there are banks, automatic tellers (where one can withdraw cash from some international credit cards) and many money exchange offices. The other large towns also have many money exchange offices. |
| | Relax Cancun has something for everyone and you can discover it at your own pace. A little research goes a long way. We were fortunate that every tour we booked they managed to exceed our expectations in term os professionalism, experience, service and cost. This was a holiday of a lifetime and even exceeded my time in Australia as I had my daughter with me. |
| | Accomodation We booked an All Inclusive deal at the Rui Cancun and we had a spectacur base from which to start exploring this amazing part of Mexico. When they say All Inclusive they mean it and when it says 5 star they mean it! |
