Our place in the sun

by lomi - last update: Aug 27, 2008

We have bought an old villa in rural Lanzarote. Many of the outside walls were un-rendered, and it used to have an abandoned garden with an orchard of dead fruit trees. But all main services were in.

It is built on two floors, with a huge sun terrace the length of the house, from where we can see the village, Arrecife and the sea. A second terrace on the ground floor also looks out to sea. There are 11 rooms, we want to add 3 more.

When complete it will have 5 bedrooms (3 ensuite) and a further bathroom. The garden has 3 courtyards and enough room for a pool. A high wall around the property makes it very private,

I will be adding more info as I get time off from designing the interior and landscaping the garden.

Main bathroom

One of four bathrooms
The village church
We can hear the church bells every sunday where villagers are called to worship. The annual fiesta starts at the church in mid July and goes on for four days and nights.
And we pick lemons straight of the tree in the garden!
Glass panel
I have been inspired by the Book of Kells and created this stain glass feature for one of my internal doors.
Bedroom 1 of 4

One of the four bedrooms

Sitting Room overlooking the courtyard

And we have a decent sitting room at last

Sadly we will be selling the property when it is finished. Anyone interested, please see my new website, it is going live shortly www.buyourvilla.com
