Our half day trip from Aleppo to Qala’at Samaan added on one extra site – Ain Dara. A Hittite temple which dedicated to the goddess Ishtar stood on an acropolois. It is impressive as there extraordinary basalt status and reliefs, which litter the site. The single most impressive status is a huge lion tipped over on its side when you walk into the site. It offers excellent overview of the surrounding areas.
