This was our fourth trip to Jamaica and I wanted to explore a different section of the island so I opted for Ocho Rios. My first choice, Sans Souci, was fully booked so I booked Couples Ocho Rios instead. The idea behind Couples is that it's a resort only for couples, no children and no singles, which appealed to me since I'm an old married lady :-) I later found out that it's only for heterosexual couples, you don't have to be married but there does have to be a man and a woman.

A visit to any resort starts in the lobby where you fill out a few forms, hand over your credit card for incidentals and get a briefing on the resort. The orientation/check in at Couples was brief, efficient and got the vacation off to a good start.

Couples Ocho Rios is one of the oldest all inclusives in Jamaica or the Caribbean for that matter and it's age is starting to show. The room was clean and spacious but looked a bit worn.

We opted for a garden view room, it was cheaper than an ocean view room and we don't spend much time gazing out of the windows in our room anyways. I did peek across the hall at the ocean view rooms and they were pretty similar to ours except for the view.

The bed was reasonably comfortable, the room was air conditioned and had a ceiling fan. Amenities included an in room safe, coffee maker, iron, cable TV, phone and CD player.

The bathroom was also showing it's age but it was clean. I never exactly got a hot shower but it was at least warm enough to use.

Toiletries included bath gel, shampoo, aloe and lotion. When you ran out, you had to ask the maid for more which I wouldn't expect to have to do at a resort.

Towels were fine but not big and fluffy.

The garden view rooms had views like this. The garden was well maintained and lush.

The property has four hot tubs, tow located near the pool and two private two person hot tubs in the garden complete with occupied sign to put in front. Two problems though, the hot tub wasn't very hot (the sign said 103 degrees but not even close) and although it was semi private there was enough gaps in the foliage to allow people to see in.

Two swings in the garden, too bad I couldn't get this guy to move over and share!

Also in the garden was a gazebo, perhaps used for weddings although there was another one closer to the beach that would have been more scenic.
