The Gates...

Heres a picture of the famous entry way into Aushwitz at around sun set. This is the building the trains passed through with the jews...

The Drop Off...

This is a picture taken from on top of the main gate looking down on the tracks where the trains would stop and unload all the jews. From there they would be directed either towards the gas chambers, or towards the camps...

The Gas Chambers...

Most of the jews were sent to gas chambers like this one. Gas would be dropped through holes in the ceiling throughout the chamber. People by the holes would die within the first seconds, and people further back would die within just a few minutes...

The Chimneys...

The chimneys marked the buildings where the bodies were burned after they were gassed. Ofcourse they were not burned until all their hair was cut off, their gold fillings removed, their glasses removed, any fake limbs removed, and their watches removed. Basicly anything of value. The Germans processed everything they collected off their bodies and then re-sold it. Even the hair...

Lucky, or Unlucky?

If you were not seleceted to enter the gas chambers, you entered the camps. The average prisoner in the camps lived for 3 months before they died from starvation, exhaustion, or they were murdered.

Here is a picture of the main entry point into the camp area...

The Camp...

This is over looking only about 1/3 of the camp. Only a few houses remain. Over 100,000 prisoners occupied this camp at all times...

Guarded

Just one of the many towers that were placed around the perimeter of the camp. I found it strange that they have warning signs telling the prisoners to stop and not aproach the fence. Like they cared or not if they died...

A Small Piece Of Justice... I Guess...

During the war. The Warden who ran Aushwitz lived in a big house right next to the camp and the death chambers. His kids would play in the back yard with the black smoke risng from the chimneys behind them. After the war, he fled the camp only to be captured at a later time. After he was sentenced to death. They brought him back to Aushwitz and back to the gas chambers. Out side the gas chambers, facing the camp that he wardened, he was hung, so while he died, he could look over the camp that once made him all his money...
