All my life I have wanted a Bassett Hound, one Saturday there was an ad in the local paper for one, Claire persuaded me to ring it. They wanted £750 for him, I thought it was expensive but Claire said go for it. We went to Warwick to look at him, and both fell in love with him immediately. He comes from a family of champion show dogs, so we decided to show him as well
We called the puppy Bentley and we picked him up on the Friday. His first night was quite but the next night he kept me awake because I slept downstairs with him at Claires parents. The next day he had a really good time exploring the field and playing with the rabbits and Holly the Jack Russell.
Unfortunately Bentley was diagnosed with an abnormal hip and fluid on the knee, his x-rays were passed onto a specialist who diagnosed him Hip Displacia(sp). Which isn`t a very good thing to have if we want to breed from him.
Since the diagnosis we have shown Bentley and he has won Best Basset Puppy, various other prizes and qualified for Crufts 2006. |
