Museo Guggenheim, Bilbao Remarkable tintanium-clad addition to the Spanish port of Bilbao. Yet another museum to house the vast Guggenheim collection of art. A fun subject to paint, this was created leaning against a parapet half way up the bridge over the river! |
Pulteney Bridge, Bath, England The heart of the incredible Georgian splendour of Bath. Pulteney Bridge has echoes of Venice, occupied with two rows of busy shops. Fortunately there is another bridge just downstream, a great spot to stand and draw! |
Millennium Stadium, Cardiff, Wales Gosh was I cold after finishing this pen & ink sketch in the middle of January!! Perched on top of a wall, with fingerless gloves :-) But it worked very well. The stadium is very dramatic, threaded between Cardiff's tall buildings by the River Taff. |
Goßmannsdorf, Germany One of the many pretty Bavarian villages on the banks of the River Maine. I had to climb up into the vineyards on the opposite hill to draw this one. The composition worked out well, with the pretty church nestled in the centre. |
Column of Trajan, Rome A sort of carved Roman tabloid newspaper in sculpture, celebrating the victorious battles of the Emperor. The bottom was surrounded by scaffolding, hence a starring role here for the top part... There are more of my drawings of Rome on my Virtual Tourist Rome and Vatican City Pages. |
Metropolitan Cathedral, Liverpool Liverpools distinctive Catholic cathedral. Also known (somewhat rudely) as "Paddy's Wigwam". Completed in 1967, the architect was Sir Frederick Gibberd. This is one of the better examples of England's 1960's architecture. |
Aremd, Morocco An hour's walk from Imlill in the High Atlas Mountains is the hilltop village of Aremd. This was drawn with great difficulty, because the naughty village children kept on stealing my graphic pens!!! |
Middle England Technically not 'travelling'. But if I fell out of my mother's kitchen window, climbed over some rhubarb and an old iron fence, I would be standing at the point from which I sketched this view. Nice place to live, eh? |
