Spree Hotel. Our accommodation. | Luxury of its sort and time. |
It was in East Berlin, now replaced I believe. It was near Alexanderplatz and the Television tower. Also near the Unter den Linden and the Dom. Magic sounds, those words, to me. |
| | Exciting drive. We came to Berlin on our night selfdrive from the east - Poland's Silesia. Approximately the direction one Russian army of the two came in 1945 Jan/Feb. They did not use the comfortable freeway (still in Poland) that we had, though. Nor the distance signs. Again I felt a stimulating sense of history ! |
Special tastes - Trabant. Ich bin grosse fanatik ! In the film"Car for a Dollar" I have a vey brief appearance from Australia !!! Parked EAST of the Alexanderplatz, of course. Visit . http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/trabant_austclub/index.jhtml or the link on my homepage. | | | They have a cult following. |

| A bit of historic time-warp fun ?? |
| | Temporary visitors. The Boys stroll on Friedrichstrasse on a sunny Sunday afternoon. (near Checkpoint Charlie or around at Charlottenstrasse !). Going for hot chocolate at Potsdamer Platz. (Enlarge pic for fun text.) |
The Reichstag's moods. Its days of grandeur. | | |
| | The Reichstag's moods. Its time of defeat and shame.
(What remaining pillar is the Russian soldier bravely perched on. I would love to know. Can anybody help ?) |
