Paris in December

Christmas Decor in Paris

Carousel @ Palais de Chaillot
December 2004 was my first visit ever to the city of light in winter. And I'm glad I took the opportunity to do so. Parisians have a flair for decorating and many of the streets and their establishments follow suit. It's so different this Christmas atmosphere in Paris as compared with the States.
Ice rink at Hotel de Ville
The Hotel de Ville has a huge ice skating rink for the winter season. On Dec. 30th it was so crowded on the rink and also there was a very long line of people waiting to get onto the rink.

It's a fantastic sight to see and there are two caroussels on either side of the rink which adds to the festive Parisian atmosphere.
Patissier on the rue Mouffetard
One of the nicest things to see are the patisserie windows. Lots of artistic and beautiful pastries and cakes normally, but at Christmas and New Year's, they are even more special.
Xmas trees on the Champs Elysees
The Champs Elysees was dressed up with quite a few Christmas trees. Quite a sight to see for sure.
Laduree was all dressed up for Xmas too.
Notre Dame had a Christmas tree at Place du Parvis also.
Foquet's on Champs Elysees
Fouquet's on the Champs Elysees was all dressed up too.
Renault showroom on the Champs Elysees
Renault's showroom on the Champs Elysees: claims that Father Christmas chooses Renault!

Nice info, I recall being up the top and being amazed at the traffic chaos below

What a comprehensive page! You seem to have put all your VT energy into it ;-) I agree about the Orsay, and your tip about the Memorial des Martyrs de La Deportation is beautifully expressed
