"Atmospheric Hampi" Hampi Travelogue by travelinxs

Hampi Travel Guide: 252 reviews and 928 photos

The town of Hampi is set amid a strange but atmospheric boulder-strewn landscape, dissected by a river that can be crossed by a conical ferry made of bamboo and reed.

Staying on the opposite side to the main town this crossing was done several times a day.

The ancient Hindu temples for which this town is famed are spread across huge areas and take a day or two to cover, but are worth the effort, even in the 33C heat.

Judging from the pic i reckon we stayed in the same digs. BTW the same thing happened to me...the ferryman buggered off for the night, but at least i had the sense to "borrow" a boat. You gotta stop smoking that stuff:o)
