Tito and the boys having fun

In the ditch
Joseph Broz Tito led the Communist partisans in WW2. His harassment campaign succeeded in drawing large amounts of troops away from other front lines thereby adding to the Allied effort.

In one very spectacular raid his troops blew up this bridge while a locomotive was in transit across. The event was the basis for the story in the movie Force 10 from Navaronne.
Choo Choo

A monument and a park

The government set up a steam locomotive here as a monument to remind the people of the struggle during WW2.

The saddest part of the war here is that it was not just Yugoslavians against Germans. It was Croats against Bosnians, Croats and Bosnians against Germans, Germans and Croats against Chetniks, Chetniks against Germans, basically everyone against everyone.

It was an awful precursor to the terrible wars of the 1990s.
KBR could do it!

The park

It is in bad repair and needs work but there is so much in this country that needs rebuilding already. One day they will be able to out some effort into it.

A new modern rail bridge was built nearby as well as a hignway bridge.
