San Francisco

by spgood301 - last update: Jan 18, 2005

SF is a beauty!

One of San Francisco's enduring symbols.
I'm in the middle of my San Francisco experience (on my work assignment-lucky me!). If you're looking for a diverse, cosmopolitan, friendly city, look no further than SF (is that a cliche or not?!!!).

Take a walk through Chinatown on a Saturday afternoon-OK, it's more like a crawl but that's allright. Grab a meal or a drink on Union Street. Hang out near the bay, or check out the Giants at SBC Park-in season, of course. SF will grab you, as it's grabbing me.

Christmas in San Francisco

Being an "east coast guy", and especially being away from home, I had a hard time getting into Chrismas in San Francisco. As I've found out though, Christmas is pretty special here too.

Of course, the shopping is great. Union Square is the best place to for that-Macy's is huge. Go especially at night, when the tree is lit. I listened to a chorus of teenagers singing Christmas tunes-it really got the holiday feeling going.

I also saw a Dickens festival-a recreaton of Charles Dickens' London. People walking around in period costumes, fun entertainment, arts and crafts, food & refreshments...and don't forget the Boddingtons on draft mmmmm! A bit of Victorian England, in California!

A fun Christmas weekend in San Fran. It's great to be here!!!
Sts Peter & Paul Church-North Beach

North Beach

My favorite San Francisco neighborhood is North Beach. It's known for its Italian restaurants (which are quite good). You can eat on the sidewalk on a nice day, and the nightlife's cool too (from what I hear anyway-who would visit a club that would let me in heeheeeee!).

Walking down Columbus Ave is a great SF experience-I go back again and again.
Crabs at Fishermans Wharf

So much to see

I'm not done here yet-one more month working in SF, so much to see & do. My advice: walk, take a cable car, whatever you've got...get out and enjoy the city-and don't be crabby about it either! :-)
