|  | Coconut Flowers. I am sure some of you migt not have had the oportunity to see the flowers of a coconut tree.:) These flowers are considered auspecious in Kerala. When ever there is a function like marriage, or similar function this is a must along with paddy filled 'PARA" We call this flower Thengil Pookula. Thengu = Coconut Treee, Pookula = bunch of flowers. FLOWERS OF A COCONUT TREE The name KERALAM means the land of 'KERA VRIKSHAS' ( 'Coconut Trees' in english ). Flowers of the coconut tree is supposed to be very Auspecious... |

|  | Hebisus Hebiscus is another commonly seen flower in Kerala. We do have varieties of hebiscus in different colours and shapes. The ground paste of hebiscus leaves used as shampoo in olden days (even now i dont mind using it):) . U can say the best shampoo in earth. It gives our hair a cool and silky feeling. |
|  | Purple is purely soothing for eyes This flowers can be seen almost everywhere in kerala. A creeper normally grown near the gate or compond walls. |
