Small Trips In the Nature of Norway

Harahorn

Harahorn
Harahorn - Picture taken autumn 2003

This picture is taken on a place called "Harahorn". It is located north on the highland Hemsedal east in the country, which is about three hours drive from home. The place lies 1100 meters over the sea. It is a beautiful wiew there! The picture is taken right outside of an old farm, which is rebuilt so people can rent it for big events (My father got married there). Being on the mountain in the autumn is great! All the colors and the peace and quiet is just breathtaking!
"Kobberdammen"

Green area around Trondheim

The green area around Trondheim City, is called "Bymarka". This is a great place for hiking and biking in the summer and skiing in the winter. The paths are easy to follow because of good marking, and many of them are in great conditions for biking. There are several great wiewpoints in "marka". The two best are "Geitfjellet"(416 meters over sea) and "Gråkallen"(552 meters over sea). You will also come across many small lakes on your way. These are great for bathing in the summer! In the winter there are many skiingtreks in "marka" and there are also several touristhuts open. Some of them sell food and drinks.
"Åletjern"

"Åletjern"

Åletjern - Picture taken summer 2004

"Ålejern" is a really great bathingplace!!! The small lakes of the forest tend to have a unpleasant bottom with mud and grass. I can't say I like the feeling of that around my legs. But "Åletjern" have a sand bottom and the water is green-blue. The sand comes from that "Åletjern" once was a mine, and it was filled with sand when they closed it. (I'm actually not quite sure if the story is right, but the sand have to come from some place...) The green-blue color comes from the small clayparticles in the water. The only thing that is bad with this lake, is that is much deeper than usual, so it use far longer time to get warmed up.
"Djuptjern"

This picture is of a little lake called "Djuptjern". It is a great place for fishing trout and perch. (Well, not when I fish though... I don't think I'm quiet enough for that kind of things :) If you just want some peace and quiet without making it to a daytrip, this place i great. It is just two minutes walk from the road (not the mainroad though!). It is a nice little place on a spit, were you can have a fire and throw out a couple of fishing rods.

"Røkebergtjern"

Røkebergtjern - Picture taken summer 2004

"Røkebergtjern" is a small lake not far from my home. I'm so lucky that my family have a hut here. It takes one-two hours to walk from my house to the lake. Because the water is pretty shallow it get very warm in the summer. This makes it a great place to take a bath! The nice thing about "Røkebergtjern" is that you can get here by very many paths, so yoy never get bored by walking the same way every time. In the winter there are plenty of skiingtreks in the area, but personally i like it best at summertime...
"Sirikirke"

"Sirikirke"

Sirikirke - Picture taken spring 2004

"Sirikirke" is a top which is 635 meters over sea. It is a great wiewpoint on a sunny day. You will see "Eikern", a big lake in the bottom of the vally and you can see all the way to cities like Kongsberg. The raise to the top is pretty abrupt, but if you choose to walk from the road it is just a 30 minutes walk.
