Ahhhhhh.....the 80's 1985.......I barely remember it!! There were lots of parties in the mid 80's, that much I remember! |
My allowance was spent on hairspray! This was my junior year high school picture, circa 1986. This was at the tail end of my punk rock hairdo days......my sophomore year is horrifying. Too horrifying to share, I'm afraid. Black hair.....a la Sid Vicious. I used to hang upside down to get my hair sprayed up! I remember using Knox gelatin to help, as well. In those days, colored dye was hard to come by so Kool-Aid always came in handy when getting bored with hair color!! |
My family must have been so proud! This is me and my little brother Michael......the little Marine (he actually grew up to be a Marine!). I was very lucky that my parents let me be myself while growing up. Even my baby brother wasn't embarrassed by me. My other brother, Nick, on the other hand, HATED being seen with me in public (he's a year younger than me and was a "jock"). Hey....I was cool before it was cool to be this cool!! This was early 1987.....still letting it grow out! |
Almost there.... The hair is almost back to normal. This was 1987, I believe. Is it just me or is John's hair CRIMPED?? Ah, yes...the crimping iron. A horrible invention that not only put itty-bitty waves in your hair, but burned the hell out of it, as well! |
FINALLY By early summer 1988, it was grown out and back to normal. It was fun while it lasted, but I'm glad I had an early start. That led to an early finish! No more dye, no more hairspray!!! |
