Downtown Johannesburg is not vibrant anymore. All of the businesses and Stock exchange moved to Sandton , a popular and affluent suburb. In recent years since aparteid the crime in downtown Joburg was staggering, but now there is an effort to revive downtown Joburg. The police has installed numerous cameras around the city to monitor crime. Crime has reportly dropped dramatically in the area. But don't let the reports give you false hope because as in any city you must always use common sense and never look like a tourist or someone that is lost because you will stick out. Inspite of that downtown Joburg is still worth visiting. |
