and mind power overcomes all obstacles
I was against the Olympic Games in Greece since the beginning. It was insane for such a small country to bear the economic burden of such a huge endeavour. Not only that but we had to deal with the insane claims about safety and such. As it turned out the whole paranoia was about which company would be chosen to protect us, so as usual it was nothing but a matter of money and who gets it in the end. The end result is that we Greeks will be paying for this down to our grandchildren and maybe more.
I did not attend a single event. But I admit I did watch my favourite sport on tv. Weight lifting. It just is beyond me how these human Atlases can carry these heavy weights! I must also admit that Athens looked its best at the time.
But when it came to Paraolympics then something hit my heart. That was something worth attending if only to encourage and applaud the people who have the strength to expose their imperfection and a rise above everyone else proving that strength of will and mind are the driving forces in our lives.
From these lines I would like once again to congradulate them and stand up in respect. Their strength is a lesson to the world. |
