I just got all my pics developed and they're all jumbled together. So I think I'll write a travelogue.
I hope it's clear that I'm not doing this for ratings? I don't have the wish nor the energy to organise my thoughts. I just feel like letting my fingers ride along the keyboard. I think we write what we write for ourselves, because we have to write it.
Here's a pic taken on the day I left Ljubljana... I'm in one of my moods, thinking maybe I should go off on my own again soon. I'm not used to travelling with anyone, but here I am in Skofja Loka with a new-found friend. Life happens. :-) Anyway, I'm just at the point of starting to think... what if I ran away? As often happens, things suddenly change for the better and you go on... But I do think that once you've had that inkling that maybe you should run away, you should. But, there would be many other wonderful days to come, including the last one. |
| old houses in Skofja Loka |
| | old Skofja Loka house The time spent in Skofja Loka was good. Never mind the questioning I went through, and probably the questioning he went through... :-) All went well. As usual, at some point, I left to do things on my own. I got to see the old town, really well, so well that I began to miss my Che Guevara, left up there in the hill... but I made the best of this time alone and explored every nook and cranny of this marvelous old town. It's worth it, believe me! I spoke to many store and art gallery keepers, I looked around for a good hairdresser, found one and talked a while, then sat at a café and the owner started flirting with me... hehe. Just then, Che decided to show up and join me, to tell me I should have stayed with him, the things I would have seen!!! ha! there's always time to see things... it was marvelous! |
| | man in front of a historic house Skofja Loka - While I was alone, exploring the town, I met this man who saw me reading a guidebook and came up to ask me if he could help. It was in front of one of the oldest houses in town, I didn't have any questions but we sign-languaged for a while and had a good time :-) Here he is, in the pic. I hope you go to Skofja Loka, it's extremely pleasant and the luminosity (when I was there, at least, in September, was fantastic.) |
| | please god, let it storm! Skofja Loka - The skies became heavy and dark while we were out in the hills. My friend said "Don't worry lou, here, take my jacket, and follow me. There's a mountain shack over there. We'll be ok!" I wasn't afraid of anything... actually, I almost prayed for a storm! That lil shack was a beautiful refuge. We waited and waited and waited ... funny, the storm never came. :-) |
| | Nice café by the Old Town wall Skofja Loka - We arrived around Noon by bus from Ljubljana and stopped at this inviting café to enjoy this nice old town before setting off in the hills.
The pic shows the town's old walls, right by the café in question. The beauty of Slovenia is in the greenness, the forests, the mist. The air was so fresh and moist! A group of French backpackers was having a light banter about existentialism... and about how beautiful the women were in Skofja Loka. :-) We were happy just sitting there, thinking of the day's walk ahead. By this time, I'm thinking of learning Spanish. I'm in Slovenia, but I'm hearing the call of South America! Typical! I know so little... |
