London - City of 1000 Sights...

Old Percy was right, but don't let that detract you from exploring this city of many sights, sounds... and smells.

Not to be confused with Westminster Abbey - this church has a campanile tower offering some cool views of the city.

Germany - Der Vaterland

The author likes nothing better than to bugger off to remote mountain villages in this country and gorge himself on Weißbier, Kartoffeln and plump Fräuleinen.

Freising is a quiet village outside of Munich, with plenty of hotels, restaurants and beer gardens. A massive cathedral complex dominates a hill near the city center. A number of streams run through the town like this one.

Iceland - land of volcanic fire and glacial ice

South of Þingvellir, the frozen tundra encroaches on an outlet of the lake called Ölfusvatnsvík. Mount Vellir lies the the southwest. The Mid-Atlantic Rift runs directly through this region, causing Iceland to move apart ever so slowly.

Pros: Geysirs, waterfalls, volcanic hot springs, glaciers, great people.
Cons: A certain lack of imagination in architecture and good restaurants.
