A wicked day in Gent | De Dulle Griet covered with friends |
In honour of my birthday, I invited my friends over to celebrate this joyous occasion with me in Gent. Some 20 people attended and it all went very smoothly! |
| Mosquito Coast Gaming Fun |
Mosquito Coast fun We went to the "Mosquito Coast", a travel café in Gent which is one of my favourite bars in my favourite Belgian town. I asked everyone to wear sth black or blue, and most people obeyed my wishes. I also asked to bring games, so we could play cards, play poker, play monopoly, just plain old fun. |
Trumps! We played trumps for an hour or two, just relaxing and having a drink. Okay okay, we did not win, but who cares? Anyway, the other team was VERY lucky as well... |
Having a drink Everyone arrived at different times, so it was nice to greet them and receiving their congratulations. I just love birthdays! There's ony one day in which you can really be the centre of attention without feeling a bit annoyed. I planned on having a great time, and I did :-) |
Saturday - Lille! On Saturday I went to Lille with Carla. Lille is a very nice town to go to; you can have a walk through the pretty town center, marvel at the buildings and sample a nice coffee in one of the many cafés. And everyone is super friendly! More pictures on my Lille page... |
Lille2004 Lille is the Cultural Capital of Europe in 2004, and these tulips are part of this event. You can see that it was a good day on this picture. Actually, when we got off the tulips, we noticed a sign saying: please don't climb on the statue... Oh well, as a birthday boy you can do silly things. I actually mean: you HAVE to do silly things :-) |
Sunday = football day! I play football myself, and am an avid supporter of Club Brugge (which you can see on other pages of this site). We played against the first in the league in the morning, and lost 2-3. We played well, so that's the most important, the points will follow soon. In the afternoon I went to my favourite 4° Provinciale team: FC Doomkerke! One of my best friends plays there (as they put in Dutch: he plays the stars off the sky), and they won 7-1! Good game! |
Ale Ale Ale Aleoooo The picture shows my mother posing with Tomislav Butina, Club Brugge's goalkeeper. We met him after the game of Sunday evening against Racing Genk (we drew 1-1) and he was very happy to pose with my mom. As you can see on the picture :-) A very filled weekend indeed, but it was a great one. Thanks to everybody who made it a splendid bday weekend! |
