Bangkok Story

by Arjaree - last update: Nov 6, 2004

Sunset in Chao Praya River
Sukhumvit
This is a heart of business area. It is where office and apartment buildings are growing continually. An expensive area where Mercedez's, BMW's, and Volvo's are lined up being stuck in the traffic. This is an are where you can find ALL kinds of food and restaurants, from Thai to French, from Chinese to Lebanese.

This is Sukhumvit.
BTS Victory Monument Station
BTS has helped all walks of life to have a better quality in commuting. It has really bettered Bangkokians' quality of life.

Pictured here is Victory Monument. Its not exactly a downtown or a business area. But it is sure busy and packed with people and traffic all day long.
Waiting for BTS
Here's the picture of people waiting in line for BTS. There are loads of people using the service during the prime time.
A Downtown Park
A park called Benjasiri is located in a middle of Bangkok's downtown - Sukhumvit. You can escape the polluted biz scene here whenever you want till 9pm. Midday - early afternoon is rather hot to hang out around here though. At the further back down the park, there is a spot where people practice their skateboarding skill.
National Anthem
In the picture, people stand up for the national anthem.

There is the national anthem at 8am and 6 pm. When you hear it, you stand up or stop walking, and you stand still till the song finishes. It may seem weird to tourists but it's our customs that you should respect :)
Starbucks
Bangkokians have well embraced the coffee drinking culture. Thus, you will see quite a few Starbucks as well as other franchaises in the major spots of Bangkok.
7/11
There is 7/11 in every corner. Sometimes you will see one after another within a block. It's crazy.

Note:
Don't mind some pics in a blurry/unclear mode. I personally think it represents the pace of life and lifestyle of people living in a city. Its fast. Its consumeristic. Its materialized.
