The Cats that own us!

by thecatsmeow - last update: Oct 28, 2007

Cats can be friends

They know how to find the soft spots
Picture taken December 2004 of all 4 cats on our bed. Buddy upper left,Callie lower left, Cinder in the center, Daphne to her right. Yes there can be harmony! :)
Buddy napping

Buddy 08/1988-01/2006

Buddy is my first love. I got him in 1988 when he was just an 8 week old pocket warmer. We have been through alot together. He is 16 now and completely deaf. He has always been very tiny and only weighs in around 6 lbs on a fat day. Buddy is now 17 years old and still with us! He has an overactive thyroid so must have his meds everyday but he is usually pretty good about taking his pill. I hope he can hang in there for several more birthdays. 01/10/2006 Today I had to do the humane thing and take poor Buddy in for his final visit to the vet. His thyroid was getting the best of him and definately taking a toll! He is now over the Rainbow Bridge along with Mazda. One of the hardest things I have ever had to do. Dear sweet boy only weighed 4 lbs in the end. May God make him well once again. I love you Buddlins!

Cinder 08/1994- 10/2007

October 22,2007 Cinder has crossed the rainbow bridge. :( I had to say good bye and it was not an easy thing to do. I took her into a specialist and had threm run all the tests they could but in the end there was no question as to what to do. Quality of life had been affected. May you rest in peace dear Cinder. No more pain! Cinder was my second kitty. In a sense I rescued her. My boss at the time had an unwanted litter and her husband was threatening to kill them. So in October of 1994 she brought a cute little kitten into the store and set her in the stockroom with my freight. Of course I took it home! Then I almost killed her by turniing on the dryer without realizing she was in it. Cinder is a very fitting name for my extremely lucky kitty. She is on a extreme kitty diet as she weighed in at over 28lbs.
She now weighs in at 27.1. This is a slow process. We are aiming for 15lbs.
August 17 2007 We found out that Cinder has developed kidney failure. Poor baby! She has been slowly losing the needed weight and then suddenly she dropped a bunch. Now @ 13 pounds she looks like a regular sized kitty but she is slowly dying. I will do all I can to make sure she is around as long as possible.
Beautiful Cinder...What a sweet face
Daphne and her favorite toy

Daphne

Daphne was the third cat in my adult life. In early 1995 someone dumped her out around my house.
She was so young and cute I made her a little bed on the porch. She was also pregnant. Little girl had several kittens and only one lived. My old neighbor still owns it. The vet believes Daphne is a pure Siamese and that she was dumped because she was an Applehead which is some idiots idea of a bad trait. Lucky for me and D both.

Mazda

Mazda is Don's cat. She was found at a Mazda dealership over by where his parents live and that is how she got her name. Don and his father found her and just could not leave her there. She originally lived at his parents house but when Don bought this house she came to live with him. She is very sweet but rather guarded even today. Does not really like all the other cats. 03/25/2005 Today is a very sad day! Don had to take Mazda in to the vet and the news was not good. Mazda has gone over the Rainbow Bridge now. May she rest in peace and know we loved her very much.

Callie Lions Roar

Callie

Callie is the last of our babies. One spring day in 1999 she was caught sneaking food that we had out in the garage for another cat that was roaming around. She stole Don's heart from the very first day! She was so scared the first couple of years that it is hard to believe she is the same cat that sleeps with us every night. She is a Dilute Calico.

Buddy again

Buddy napping as usual.
Patches watching the birds

Patches

March of 2006 Don went out and adopted a cat to join our household. She was a 9 month old calico and not so small. Her name is Little Patches but we do not use the "Little" much. :) You can see why! Patches had been at the shelter for about 8 monthes we think. Lucky for her it is a no kill shelter . To adopt a "kitten" is more expensive then adopting a full adult cat. That is a feline of at least 1 year. Patches is very loving and was ready to come to a home with other kitties. She loves to lay in your lap or the window. She is definately still a kitten at heart. She gets the night crazies and just goes wild. Welcome to a safe home Patches honey!
