Australia in ten days!

by Elibra - last update: Nov 30, 2004

Scuba diving in Great Barrier Reef

Diving in Saxon Reef
I had never dive before I went to Australia. And I had no plan of doing so either. But my good friend and travelmate talked me into it. I have never regret it! It was a adventure for life! I had three discover dive with a instructor. It was a different world under water. We saw some amacing things, reef sharks, funny fish with plenty colors, sea cucumber and we even got to pet a seaturtle. I strongly recomand it! So go to Cairns, find yourself a divingboat on the harbour and have the time of your life!
Cairns

Relaxing by the pool in Cairns

In the middle of Cairns you will find a really tempting pool. It is open for everyone. It's located not far from the harbour. It is a large pool and it even has it own artifical beach! So if you have a day or more in Cairns city and you get really hot of all the walking, just change to bikini or shorts and jump right into the clear blue water!
Riding in Centenial Park

Riding in Centenial Park

Centenial Park is the biggest park in Sydney. It is a long walk from centrum, so you may want to take a taxi. In the park you can go for a walk, sit on a bench and relax or do what I did, take a ride! My travelmate isn't really into horses, so I had to go by myself. You can hire a horse in one of many stables that lies next to the park. It is pretty expencive, but it was a great trip!
Sydney tower

Dinner in Sydney Tower

Sydney Tower lies not far from the opera house. It has sveral different restaurants. You may want to make a reservation. It ranges over 300 meters over ground and have a spetacular wiew over whole Sydney centrum. The tower rotate once i hour. The food is good, but you probably go there for the wiew.
Sydney Aquarium

A visit in Sydney Aquarium

If you found that you have a couple of hours to spare, you can take a visit in Sydney Aquarium. Here you can see all the animals and fishes that excist in the sea around Australia. If you don't get to take the trip to Grat Barrier Reef, you can watch what you missed here. It also have a great collection of sharks, both dangarous and the more friendly sort, like reef sharks.
Opera in Sydney

Opera in Sydney

Every trip to Sidney should include a visit in the famous arcitecture opera house. My interest in opera can be rated to zero, but still it was an unforgettable experience. We dressed in fine cloting and bougth a good drink while we waited to get seeted. The play was texted so it was easy to follow the act. But if you don't have room for a suit or a dress, nobody look strange at you if you just wear jeans. :)
Brisbane

A walk in Brisbane

My travelmate went to school in Brisbane, so I also got to visit this city. The city was pretty large, so a map can be a good travel friend. The main street is Queens Street. Here you will find several shopping center, cafes, bars and restaurants. It is also a fine place to use as a meeting point.
Australia zoo

Visit in the crocodilehunters home

We took the train fra Brisbane to visit Australia Zoo. The home of the famous croc hunter, Steve Irwin. It was a great experience to see and pet real autralian animals. We got to see crocodile feeding, pet koala bears and kangaroos. We spend the whole day there, and even that was to little time. Bay kangaroo food in one of many shops and feed them yourself!
