Busch Gardens

by paradisedreamer - last update: Nov 21, 2004

Saturday 13th November

We were up packed and had had breakfast by the time the gates to Busch Gardens opened.
We first went to the Nairobi Train station and got a steam train around the Serengeti plain. They had quite a few different species of anilmals but of course it was nothing like the real ting. We then got the skytrain to the top end of the park. We first rode the Stanley falls flume, basically a log ride that plunges you down into water so you get splashed. We gt a little wet but noting like what was to come. Th Congo River rapids were fantastic but you will get soaked. Of couse I got the wettest out of anyone. You ride inround boats which roatate as you go don the river with rapids which splash over the sides. There wasn't a queue so we decided to ride again and this time I went directly under a waterfall which soaked me from head to tow I may as well have dived into the river. Well at least I provided everyone, especially my daughter, with stomach aching laughs at my expense! It was really good fun!.
Marc then rode on Kumba a coaster Sam was too small to ride. We took Sam on some kiddie rides and then went to see the Mike Hanna animal show. We got o see a lot of animals that we had never seen before.
We then went to Timbuktu and saw the haunted lighthouse movie in 3D. Sam then went on the carousel, Cheetah chase (a kids rollercoaster) and then she went on her first coaster with a loop). Ok so we had to tell her to 'pretend' thsat she was 6. The queues were too long for Rhino Rally so we decided to leave it. Marc then went on Gwazi a huge wooden coaster and we took Sam of land of the dragons which is a lovely kids play area.
We walked back up to the skyride which we timed really well as the sun was just setting so we got to have a nice view over the park. Th last ride was on Montu which is a very fast coaster where your feet hang free. You wouldn't get me on that for anything! Just watching it made my stomach turn!
We had dinner at Mel's hotdogs as we hadn't had anything since breakfast.

The drive to Orlando was not as long as we had expected. Our accommodation at the Econo Lodge was very good considering we were only paying GBP15 a night
