Fireworks are used during the local feasts or if the Maltese celebrate something like when we joined the EU on the 1st of May 2004. In the villages the villagers compete between themselves who makes the nicest fireworks. In my opinion, the nicest are of Lija, Qrendi and St.Julians. Of St.Julians are nice because they are exploded over the sea that is you see the reflection in the sea. At midnight or at eleven o'clock they set off the fireworks from the ground and people who have boats even sit in their boats to watch the fireworks.

These when exploded have a glittery affect and they are so nice when mixed with other colours.

These when set off take off in to different directions and make a haunting noise when they go straight upwards and explode into a colourful flower.

These when exploded explode into a cluster type like one after the other and are very affective as many colours mixed together are used.

The purple and blue ones are the most expensive and most dangerous if they explode ! Infact, during the year we have many accidents as at times the fire rooms where these fireworks are made explode and people loose their life.
