FUSSEN

Pretty as a picture....
Lovely little Fussen - we stayed here to base ourselves to drive the "Romantic Road" (brochures / maps are available from the Bavarian Tourism Board - email them for copies). We walked into a little Hotel / Casino and had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Fussen by night was magical - especially being so close to Christmas, it was lit up so beautifully. Being mid-week, there was hardly another soul walking the streets, and we felt like we were the only ones there. It was just great!
Such a pretty little town...

LANDSBERG AM LECH

Also situated on the Romantic Road, Landsberg am Lech was just such an adorable little historical town. Great shoe shopping here too! We managed to pick up quite a few bargains - definately in need of fur lined boots, as we were unable to buy them prior to arriving in Paris. I would highly recommend a visit to this picturesque little town! Cobblestone roads, pastel coloured houses, historical town gates - try to fit it into your schedule if travelling through Bavaria.

NEUSCHWANSTEIN

We visited this magnificent castle on our first day in Germany. As we had the last tour of the day, it was quite dark when we had finished. We'd taken a horse and carriage ride up, so decided to walk back down. This photo was taken halfway down the hill - kind of eerie really! Was definately one of the highlights of our whole holiday! Bavaria is so beautiful, and if you're going to drive around Europe, you should not miss this place....

PRAGUE...

Our favourite city in all of Europe. There is something truly wonderful and magical about this place. Everyone is so happy and friendly, and walking through the streets just after Christmas, it was full of people still visiting all of the Christmas Market Stalls. This photo of course, is of the Astronomical Clock.

PRAGUE...

Our Lady before Tyn in the background - note all of the Christmas Market Stalls in the foreground. We picked up some of the most beautiful original artwork here, and some really lovely little souveniors for family members back home. Prague is so much cheaper than other cities we visited in other European countries. Mikulov (on the southern border) is cheaper still - we spent 3 hours drinking and eating in the restaurant of our Hotel (The Horned Crocodile Hotel), and it only cost us $ 30.00 Australian Dollars! - approx $ 20.00 USD!!)
Our lady before Tyn
Brrrr - it was cold!

PRAGUE - THE RIVERBANKS...

Thanks to a great tip from another VT'er, we stayed at Botel Albatross. This is a boat/hotel permanently located on the bank of the river. It was within a short walking distance to the centre of Prague and the Old Town, and thankfully had carparking right out the front. The rooms were very comfortable and cosy and the cafe had great food and drinks. The lady on Reception wasn't really friendly, but that won't stop up booking back there when we return to Prague. This photo is of Imogen on the icy riverbank - very, very slippery! Note Prague Hrad (Castle) in the background.

PRAGUE - VIEW FROM PRAGUE HRAD

This is the view after climbing to the top of Prague Hrad. We sat down and tried a traditional "sausage" - I wasn't keen, but Tim loved it. The view was spectacular - Prague is a HUGE city - and we think that even in 2 weeks here, you couldn't see enough!

PRAGUE - CHARLES BRIDGE

No trip to Prague would be complete without rubbing the statue on Prague bridge - the statue of this one particular saint, Jan Nepomucky, is visited by hundreds of visitors each day - the bronze almost polished to a gold shine. We didn't have to wait too long - it was very early in the morning when we walked up to the Hrad, so it was only a couple of minutes wait.
