BERN | The Swiss know how to build motorways & tunnels! |
Switzerland was the 2nd country we visited. We left Paris at 3:30am and headed off in the dark (somehow getting onto the right motorway - lucky!). We didn't arrive at our hotel in Hergiswil (on the lake near Lucerne) until about 3:30pm, but it was a lovely drive - the countryside was so green (until we hit our first snow!). This photo was taken driving through Bern... |
| | HERGISWIL We stayed in Seehotel Pilatus - at the base of Mount Pilatus. We didn't however visit this one - we drove the next day to Engelberg to visit Mount Titlis - 3020m above sea level!
This is a photo of our hotel. |
HERGISWIL This is the view from our hotel balcony. And yes - it was as cold as it looks. The fog simply did not lift of the lake during our whole stay! I guess it gave a really romatic feel to the whole place though :)
| | ENGELBERG This photo was taken driving to Engelberg, which is at the base of Mount Titlis. The grass was so green - in spite of all the snow that had fallen. Beautiful countryside! |
BASE OF MOUNT TITLIS This photo was taken in the carpark at Engelberg / Mount Titlis. It was the first time Imogen had ever seen the ground covered in snow before! She was so excited and ready to make her first snowman (which was so much harder than it looks on TV) | | | At the base of Mount Titlis |
|
| | MOUNT TITLIS This photo was taken in the 1st cable car that takes you up to meet the revolving cable car that takes you to the top. I was petrified, but Tim and Imogen had a ball! |
BRIENZ This photo was taken of a little Chapel at the edge of Brienz. It was a beautiful afternoon (although still slightly foggy), and the moon was shining over the lake. Brienz was very picturesque - glad we made the trip!
| | Couldn't resist putting this photo in the album - this is Imogen holding her very first piece of snow. She wanted to put it in a plastic bag, so we could take it home to Australia - this was on week 2 of our 13 week holiday! She just couldn't understand that it would melt! |
