Oberservations on Scotland & the UK

by marciaca - last update: Sep 26, 2004

The Scottish are good people, but whatever you do, don't call them English. Typically the Scottish hate the English (on a widescale, not at an individual level). This is only a one-way hatred. The English think of them at their little brothers up north that like to wear kilts and eat Haggis. It's like Americans and Canadians. We think fondly of them, but they dislike us in general (again, not on an individual level) .(To any oblivious Americans reading: Yes, Canadians don't like us).

Football is the Scots passion, but they are "***e" at it. It's been a long time since they even qualified for the World Cup, so they've resigned themselves for just cheering AGAINST England. (England and Scotand compete seperately in sporting events except the Olympics).

If you are wondering whether everyone sounds like Groundskeeper Willie, the answer is yes. Well actually it depends. Many people are have light accents, but some are really quite hard to understand.
