bento

Buy your lunchbox (bento) in a supermarket or at a station. It is much cheaper then lunching in a restaurant.

In some restaurants you can order all kinds of small dishes, which you can eat together. And if you are still hungry...... just order something else.
The dish on the right is nankotsu (fried chicken cartilage), a real good one to try if you are drinking a beer.

Tempura is fish, meat or vegetables fried with a thin dough around it.

Sashimi, is raw fish. As all japanese dishes it is served as a piece of art.

The japanese love to give sweets as a gift. If you are in a tourist spot there are many different boxes with cookies and sweets for sale. People buy them as souvenir gifts.

The sweets in the picture were a present we got from Ayuri and Hiroyuki in Osaka.

icecream

The japanese have icecream in all flavors and colors. This is green tea icecream. And believe it or not it was good...

Drinks

Asahi beer can be found all over Japan. In restaurants it is often served in 500 ml bottles. But you can find every size of can in vending machines, even 1000ml cans.

Be aware that japanese law doesn´t allow to sell beer from vending machines after 11:00 at night. The machines won´t work......

More on Asahi beer:

Another great beer is Kirin. <a href="http://www.kirin.com/" target-"_"> http://www.kirin.com/

Or try Sapporo: http://www.sapporobeer.jp/english/

you caught very nice pictures of castles, shrines, cherry-blossom, etc. I like your first Japan page with children and bicycle. Its a typical scene.
