We got up at 7 to say goodbye to Karen, who had to work. I was able to walk and talk, sort of, but opening my eyes was beyond me at that point, so we went back to sleep for a couple of hours before packing up and saying goodbye to Jersey. We caught the bus into New York and a taxi to Central Park where we had a picnic and a nap. |
| | And savored some New York flavor. |
| | Central Park is a Manhattan anomaly. Imagine a city of steel, concrete, and skyscrapers, with a perfect rectangle of green at its heart. I’ve heard that the Park is an escape valve, that without it, the heat and hurry and pollution of Manhattan would be overwhelming. It was a great way to wind down before taxiing to the airport. |
| | That should be the end of the story, but there’s one more detail. They say a trip to New York isn’t complete if you don’t see a celebrity…at the airport I spotted the father and son from the Discovery show West Coast Choppers. I didn’t have a single shot left in my camera, but they were on our plane and I got the chance to say how much I liked their show, and got a big ole biker smile and a sweet thank you in return. Now that’s what I call a weekend in New York. |
