The great Persepolis

Persepolis
A general view of the remains of Persepolis.
Persepolis was the religious and ceremonial centre of the Achamenian kings, comprised a great audience chamber, the hall of a hundred columns, anterooms, a treasury, stables, and numerous other buldings. Alexander destroyed the magnificient palaces, not long after the death of the last of the achaemenians king, (Darius lll) in 331 B.C.

The frieze of tributaries that adorns the base of the great hall of Apadana.
