| Joe Strummer, HMV, Toronto |
Joe Strummer August 10, 2001 - HMV, Younge St. Toronto Margaret, Joe Strummer, Tyson, Me The late great Joe Strummer was the lead singer for the Clash, for the Mescaleros, and also an incredible independent artist in his own right. We got to meet Joe after he did a free show at an HMV in Toronto promoting his album "Global-A-Go-Go". Joe died in 2002 at the age of 50. We'll miss you very much brother, you changed the course of more lives than you knew. www.strummersite.com |
| Johnny Rotten, NXNE Conference, Toronto |
Johnny Rotten June 6, 2003 - Holiday Inn, King St., Toronto Johnny Rotten, Tyson, Jon, Me If you don't know who this cantankerous old boot is, you've been living under a rock for the last 25 years. John was and is the lead singer for the Sex Pistols (my favourite band) and PiL. He was keynote speaker at the North By Northeast Music Conference. Johnny's from London, England (but he'll remind you that he's really Irish). www.johnlydon.com |
| Mickey DeSadist, Rancho Relaxo, Toronto |
Mickey DeSadist May 1, 2004 - Rancho Relaxo, Toronto Me, Mickey DeSadist, Mickey's wife Mickey DeSadist is the lead singer for one of Canada's most popular and influential punk bands, the Forgotten Rebels. They had incredible influence over my music style and I learned guitar playing along with their records. This was a show he did promoting his solo album "Welcome to My Basement." Mickey's from Hamilton, Canada. www.forgottenrebels.com |
| Paul Gott, Hugo Crazy's, North Bay |
Paul Gott August, 2004 - Hugo Crazy's, North Bay Tyson, Paul Gott, Me Paul Gott is the lead singer and guitarist for the Ripcordz. He's been pumpin' Canadian anarchy since 1980. He's a real personal guy, despite the seriousness on his face and the growl in his singing. This is a really goofy photo. Paul's from Montreal, Canada. www.theripcordz.com |
| Hennessey, Fionn MacCool's, North Bay |
Hennessey August 2, 2002 - Fionn MacCool's, North Bay Brian, Rory, Me, Pam, MitchOk, so they're not "old school punk rock," but Hennessey's one of my all time favourite bands. Pop with a reggae edge. Their two CDs, "Dig It Up" and "Life On AM Radio", have some of the most incredible tunes I've ever heard. I'm a huge fan, you'll never meet a cooler band. When Hennessey starts playing they sound so perfect it's otherwordly. Hennessey's from Toronto and Ottawa, Canada. www.pamelabrennan.com |
