Inside the Punchbowl Cemetery is this monument to the fallen.

There is a visitor's area here where you can locate the plot of a fallen serviceman known to you.

Take you time and walk around this lovely serene place. The memorial to the fallen is in a volcanic crater.

The crater is the National Cemetery of the Pacific known by the Hawaiians as Puowaina "the hill of sacrifice". This old crater floor is now the resting place for over 25,000 victims of three American wars; World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnm War. Many American heroes are buried here, some from the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7th l941. Each year on Memorial Day every grave receives a flower lei, made by the school children of Hawaii.

This area is another quiet place to sit and reflect, and it also is on the rim of the crater, and affords beautiful views around the Honolulu area
