Songs We Learned

by damaris05 - last update: Nov 30, 2004

Vamos a Cantar!!!!

Let's sing!!!

Dominicans love to sing! They love music! Walking down the street of Los Mameyes, one would hear Merengue or Mambo resonating from house to house! I really enjoyed those rainy afternoons while we all sat around Melina's living room, singing songs and listening to el Mauro play his tambora. At the beach, the guys would randomly start singing us love songs! It was great! I wish everyone would appreciate the gift of music as they do...

Bueno Es Alabarte Jehova

//Bueno es alabarte Jehova
Y cantar salmos a tu nombre//

//Anunciar por la mañana
Tu Misericordia y tu fidelidad de noche//

(free-style:)

[repeat with different verb 4x then back to "anunciar..."]

A su Nombre --
--GLORIA!

[repeat 4x then back to "anunciar.." then repeat two first verses again and finish or do whatever]

Renuevame

This is actually a song I knew since I was a child but it became a favorite after the Dominican.

Bueno Es Alabarte

Bueno es alabarte, Señor
Tu nombre
Y darte toda gloria y honor
Por siempre
Bueno es alabarte, Señor
Y gozarme en Tu poder!

Porque grande eres Tu
Grande es tu gloria
Porque grande eres Tu
Grande es tu amor
Grande son tus obras!

Este Es El Dia

A version of "This is the Day" in Spanish...

Pollito Play

The Dominican game that Jochy and Beto taught us Sunday night after church service.

I - I - I mariquita no esta aqui
Tomando refresco Country

Gulp! Gulp! Gulp!

BACHATA

Bachata is a typical Dominican style of music that I totally fell in love with.

For all you Dominicans out there who love bachata, if you have the chance, send me some... get in touch with me so I can send you my actual e-mail address. Thank you.

Dominicanos, si tienen bachata, compartanla conmigo porfavor... Gracias!

haha, yes! leaving a club with a dominican friend at around 4 am, i discovered that red lights mean "maybe slow down a little as you plow through the intersection".

I just LOVE those "quarter to one" rules!!! HAHA@ suffering for the Lord ... I'm sure after repenting, he has forgiven all suffering! Aloha ~

Thank you for stopping by at my HP. I love your passion for Dominican Republic, it's a place that attracts me as well, I'd love to go there, and your descriptions awake the senses, presenting that country so well.
