I am originally from Teluk Intan, a small town in Perak, Malaysia. I started "moving" outside Malaysia since 1992, from places to places either due to education or career. I will write more as it goes....
Teluk Intan is a very small and quiet town. A very small community that everybody knows everybody. Though it has been a while since I last visited the place, it has always been very special to me. The photo here shows the famous century old leaning clock tower in the middle of the town. |

| | The migration ... In 1992, I moved to Singapore whilst my family moved from Teluk Intan to the capital, Kuala Lumpur (in USJ to be exact, which is a sub-urban in Selangor state). Coming from a small-town to a super efficient, organise, fast paced and ultra clean city, Singapore, never did I know that it soon became my second home.
Note: I once heard an interesting comment by a Nigerian on Singapore... the exact word by him as follows.. "The streets are so clean that you can literally lick your food from it ..."
I did my pre-university and university education in this city state. I graduated from NTU with a degree in EEE. Fond memories of campus day still remain memorable. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford a digital camera then and I am not a person who can keep hardcopy of photographs. |
Life in Singapore After graduating from NTU, started my career as a communication engineer with an US company based out of Singapore. This job really broungt me to places that I've never thought of. In the first 18th months of my career, I have travelled the whole of Asia spanning from up north in Sakhalin Island (Russia) down to Australia in the south hemisphere. Due to the job nature, having been the specialist in Satellite communication, I was mobilsed to various strange places on earth to 'connect' people. From the desert in Australia to the middle of South China Sea, out in the ocean, where communication is not available and a need is there, you will find me there. Anyway, the adventures brought me to Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Myammar, Indonesia, New Zealand, The Phillipines, Russia, France, Belgium, Switzeland, Italy, Holland, Washington DC, New York, Germany, LA, San Francisco, etc etc... Not knowing that, it was just the beginning.. I can still remember having moving in and out of Changi Airport as often as any of the cabin crew then.
I discovered this wonderful site only today and I think I have already started to love it so much. If time permits, I will try to recall all my past trips and share it here one by one... Also, I wish I can get to know some of the interesting people here.

| | Relocations - Beijing, Lagos, Aberdeen ... From Singapore, I then relocate to Beijing, China in early 2001. I spent two and a half year there and I must say that my stay in China is the most memorable of all. I will write separately on this. Though living in Beijing, I have also moved about China and discovered more around North Asia
In 2003, my career has brought me to another stage of my experience moving around the globe. I was transferred to the other half of the world, Africa. I started my venture in Nigeria and the culture difference and vast environment change from Asia has really opened up my eyes. Similarly, I will write separately on this.
After one year in Africa, my next destination is Aberdeen, Scotland. In this coming May, hopefully the documentation can be processed by then, I should be in Scotland and experience another chapter of my life. |
2004 Travel Plan End of May: Paris and Brussels June onwards: Aberdeen, Scotland End of Sept: Hong Kong, Beijing, Malaysia. Nov & Dec: Winter Scotland
| | What do I do for living? I work for an international company dealing in satellite communications. What we do is to connect people from places whereby it is so remote that no GSM, no fixed line, no power supply, etc was available... We enter the place, build the infrastructure, connect them via those satellite on the orbit to a hub where things are much more accessible.
My current role is to manage a technical delivery team which consists of talented and hard working Nigerian engineers. It is a difficult job as quick decision making is expected in many critical situations especially in places where you don't really have too many options. Ever since I took over this role, I have grown much more grey hair.... :-( Hopefully, with the new role in Aberdeen, things will get better then... :-) |
