"Turks & Caicos PROVO UNDERWATER" Personal Page by islandjim
The beach, people, food and entertainment is super at Club Med in Turkoise. When we visit and bring friends they tell us that it is the best vacation that they have ever had. You have to give it a try! I do a lot of diving, snorkeling, and swimming while there. You can find me swimming my mile early every morning and right onto the first dive boat leaving in the morning. The following is a brief recap of our stay.
Strange fish like this batfish can be found in Grace Bay. This one was in about 18 feet of water walking around the bottom. This picture was taken while snorkeling.
Most dive locations in Grace Bay are easily reached once outside the barrier reefs along the coast. Most of the frequently visited spots are a nice reef area on the top of a wall. This gives you the option of staying on the reef or going a little deeper off the wall. The boat trips are enjoyable and usually there is some food between dives.
Here I am getting into the water at a spot called the Telephone Poles. It is a nice reef area with some sand patches. At night it is a great place to sit on the bottom and wave your hands to see the luminescence. This spot seems to have a higher amount of luminescence than I have seen in other locations.
Barracuda are frequent visitors to the dive sights. I believe that they called this one Spike. He was about 4 feet in length and would hang under the boat watching you. If you tried to get close he would keep his distance. Seeing a fish like this when you first get in raises the level of excitement right away.
There is a Atlantic Dolphin named JoJo who lives in the waters of Provo. This Dolphin has been in these waters for years and has been known to come right up to swimmers. The Dolphin is very friendly. I tried to take a picture, but the camera I was using delays for a second after you hit the shutter and you can see the results. I got the second half instead of the first half.
While in about 60 feet of water you arew able to see a diversity of marine life. Just a simple underwater shot.
There are plenty of starfish just a few feet from the shore. These in the picture are about 12" across. This picture was taken while snorkeling.
