KOMODO-Island

Dragons Alive

komodo-dragon
Some people tell about the Dragon. Some about the divine Queen. Like the Chinese Quan-Yin and the Javanese Ratu Kidul. Both have been named after "The Queen Of The Southern Ocean". Both accompanied with a dragon. I've been at the Komodo-island, the Indonesian island of the living dragons.
That was a wonderful phantastic trip, included the 3 nights-stay at the island. The mystery about the word "komodo" I linked with "khumbha" and the vessel. You can find that word around all of the world ... thanks, greetzzz Roy

NAGA-Dragon

There are many associations between the Chinese Dragons and the Indian Naga, fe. the 4 Lung wang (Dragon Kings) and the Indian Naga Kings. Both were patrons of the sea, lakes and rivers. Both lived in under water palaces, both Nagas and Chinese Dragons carry pearls as well as other associations.
The lung is a gregarious creature and prone to wander. Which is the reason for the explanation of how the imperial dragon (while lesser dragons have three or four) has 5 toes in China but the further from China the more toes it loses. So when it reaches Korea it has 4 toes and when it reaches Japan it only has 3 toes. This is offered as an explanation as to why it never reached America or Europe and seems a rather nasty way to curb its instinct to wander. However it seems or at least its image has overcome this problem during the last few hundred years and is now a recognisable symbol in Australia, Europe, the Americas and most of the world.

Goddess Of Southern Ocean

The manifestation of the Goddess QUAN-YIN (and all her other names) frequently shares sanctuaries with the Queen Of Heaven, always coming out of the water. Her regular companion is the Dragon Serpent, a mainly benevolent creature. So there are a lot of sacred places near fountainheads, rivers, lakes, the oceans and even in the clouds.
The most well-known Goddess Of Heaven has been named TIN HAU, still worshipped as the Guardian-Goddess of all boats and fishermen near Her sacred Temple on the island of P'U-T'O, 70 miles from Ningbo, Tsjow-Sian Archipel.
Her ancient name is A-MA... GODDESS OF THE SOUTHERN OCEAN!!!

The Balines Rangda

The Balinese Rangda is a famous character of supernatural creatures. The legends about Rangda you still can admire with the Barong mask-dances. The creepy Barong Kat is a dragon likewise monster which eat all offerings put in front of its mouth.
Its origin we find with the Hindu Shiwa, not that creepy. He's asking for holding in with respect to the deceased, and the spirits still wandering around. You should behave yourself to the good and the bad ones! The Balinese Barang Kat does the same and warns to enter the world of darkness, the Underworld. If not ... you could be hid by evil spirits ...

Putri Naga

Long ago a mythical princess lived on Komodo, whom people called Putri Naga or Dragon Princess. She married a man named Najo and bore him twins: one was a baby boy and the other a baby-girl dragon. See >>>
