Key West - License To Kill | The Living Daylights - Key West Lighthouse |
Key West is one of the major settings in the License To Kill. One of the most violent Bond movies, there are several key scenes set in Key West. Bond's friend Felix Lighter is married in Key West at the beginning of the picture. A little later Bond is taken the the Hemingway House with all of the cats to meet with his superiors from the UK. This lighthouse can be seen in the scene at the Hemingway House. There are also scenes along the water front and marina's throughout the picture. Felix is used as shark bait in one rather brutal scene at one of the marina's in the Keys.
Although not one of the most successful Bond movies and one that I did not really care for originally, the movie holds better with repeated views than some of the more popular Bond titles. After visiting Key West I find the movie even more interesting. There are many scenes and sights of Key West throughout the first half of the movie. However when I went to Key West I did not see or hear any mention of the film being made there. |
| A View To A Kill - The Eiffel Tower |
| | Paris - A View To A Kill Without question, Paris is my favorite city that I have ever visited. I fell in love with this city on my first visit and can think no place I would rather return. While in Paris I did the customary visit to the Eiffel Tower. It is even more magnificant up close than can be imagined from any picture. As I took the elevator to top of tower I could not help but be reminded of the Bond film A View To Kill. Here Grace Jones as the villanesse Mayday jumps from the top of the tower and parachutes down to a tour boat in the Seine. It is one of my favorite stunts from any Bond film. Probably because it happens in Paris. |
| The Living Daylights - Bratislava |
| | Bratislava - The Living Daylights Just the name Bratislava brings up images of Cold War spies and espionage. The Bond film The Living Daylights opens in Bratislava at the Symphony. Although they did not use the actual site for the Symphony in the movie as pictured here it is still the actual Symphony Hall in Bratislava. Bond leaves Bratislava and heads to Vienna in the film. Althought Bond took a car I found a train ride to be very quick and easy access between the two cities. |
