Here are some views of Vancouver Buildings from the Vancouver Lookout Tower on the water front. I recommended going up here to get your bearings straight and decide which other spots you want to visit. In this picture BC Place Stadium for example is easy to spot. it's the biggest air-supported domed stadium in the world. More than 60,000 people can stay warm and dry while they take in their favourite events. The only thing between them and the elements outside is the thin fibreglass and Teflon roof, high above. It's like walking under a fabric sky -- one that's only 1/30 inch thick but stronger than steel. It is also home to the BC Lions football team. |

| | Science World and GM Place from Lookout Tower Here in this picture the Science World and GM Place home of the Vancouver Canucks are very easy to spot. I have to add Science World to my itinerary for next time in Vancouver. |
Holy Rosary Cathedral The Holy Rosary Cathedral is also very easy to spot from the Vancouver Lookout. So it shoud be getting obvious now that the Lookout is a good spot to visit and plan your day. The Cathedral, was built in 490 days, is Gothic in style with the pointed arch, vaulted ceiling, clerestory windows, buttresses, and large stained glass windows. Holy Rosary Cathedral is built of sandstone from Gabriola Island on foundations of local granite. The Cathedral was designed by T.E. Julian and H.J. Williams. R.P. Forshaw was the contractor. A number of renovations have taken place through the years. The most recent were in 1983-1984 in preparation for the Holy Father’s visit to Vancouver on September 19, 1984. In 1995 - 1997, the Cathedral was reroofed and the interior was repainted. | | | Holy Rosary Cathedral view from Vancouver Lookout. |

| | Vancouver Art Gallery At the Vancouver Art Gallery I found the public art to be the most interesting. Isn't this neat in the picture? The second millennium commission went to Kim Adams, a Toronto-based artist widely known for his provocatively humorous public sculptures. His Squid Head (2001) is a movable sculpture made specifically for the public spaces that surround the Vancouver Art Gallery. Adams engineered the sculpture with common vehicle parts, using only the rear ends of vans (delivery and mini varieties) to create an impossibly seamless marriage of components. Squid Head, which is at once animal, commerce and entertainment, represents an intersection of leisure and industry and so calls attention to the multiple functions of the space it inhabits. |
Local Brewer At the Granville Island Brewing Company you can see how they make the beer. Western Canada has some of the best local craft beers you will find. Actually very healthy and good beer!!! hmmmm....... | | | Brewer at Granville Island Brewing Company |

| | Dolphin Show at Vancouver Aqaurium I couldn't help but show another picture of the dolphin show at the Vancouver Aquarium. You can see in this picture how high they could get out of the water it really was amazing. |
Cruise Ships Vancouver is a major port for cruise ships. These boats are amazing, it is no doubt headed for northern British Columbia and Alaska. | | |
| | As you can see Vancouverites love their boats and there are plenty of them in the harbour, bays, everywhere. |

cjanzen Fri Oct 23, 2009 21:50 UTC So you were uncomfortable witnessing a gang sexual assault on a woman? You need to critically examine your privileged position and how that allows you to cast your gaze upon those who, living in the public arena of the streets, have no means to avert it. | rach1987 Thu Jan 8, 2009 21:47 UTC First off, you have no compassion and that I think that it is pretty appaling that you would write something like this. Even though you may not think it but those people are people just like you and me and im glad they made you feel umcomfortable. | Katsumo Wed Dec 31, 2008 16:23 UTC You should getcher funky white ass over to the "other" side of the tracks once in awhile and learn something about the world you live in and about systemic, institutionalized poverty and racism dude. It will give you a little more character... | mcleank900 Fri Sep 12, 2008 09:24 UTC I wonder why a tourist in any city in the world would venture down a back alley to photograph homeless people and post it here?? |
