The day before i was in the Rotterdam Kuip for a Marco Borsato concert with wife and two other females. A little tired, but i decided to go to the Arena for a David Bowie concert. Did i have a ticket ? NO. But i had the experience that its very easy (when alone or with two....not with a group) to buy a ticket last minute at a stadium or music hall. Mostly half price or even less. With that strategy i saw ELP, Pixies, Blur, Portishead. The Mission, Ramones and others. I paid 25 euro for a field card (normally 54). |

| | Am i famous already ? Not yet ! :-( I am VT member and as such known because of my pic on the net.... i thougt. Perhaps is there somewone in the Arena who says: "Hey you ! aren't you ? .. aren't you that Dutchman with that cute Yorks, mr Scheffer ?
But no one did.... |
Bowie. . . the concert. After the performance of the female Dutch rockstar Anouk, Bowie started at 21.00 hr. He opened with covers of Iggy Pop and the Pixies. After that: Station to Station, Heroes, Young Americans, the jean genie, fame, boys keep swinging and many others. His encore ended with Ziggy Stardust played guuuitttaarrrrrrrrrr at 23.05. There where about 6 new songs which i didnt knew, but they were OK and more rocky/swinging. Bowie was talkable and relaxed. The audiance was too quiet. Only the last 45 minutes the 25.000 where standing on the chairs and became very enthousiastic. Bowie showed himself very satisfied. | | | Bowie in reality and on screen |

| | Poor me or lucky me ? Poor mr. Scheffer could people think. All alone to a concert. But at a night like this i didnt felt alone. Every half hour i called my wife and her girlfriend to let them hear the noise. I watched people and after one hour i felt in a slight trance and was able to dance a bit on the songs. The train ride back to Utrecht (16 min) was nice. The beer stand girls where friendly and happy; atmospohere was OK. It all is possible because about 10 years ago i became very close friends with myself. Since then i have much more confidence and can rely on myself. A lot of people are not able to become friends with there self. That makes life more difficult. How to become your own friend ? Mail dr. Scheffer ! |
