Sometimes, when I am out hiking alone, I will eat simply - maybe a sandwich, pear or just an energy bar with some water. With others, the hiking meal can expand into a much more convivial affair. A nice picnic, good friends and conversation deepen the experience. But don't forget your other companions - the ones with four legs, who have followed you up the steep narrow trails uncomplainingly suffering the kicked up dust, the belly deep creeks, leading with their faces through head high branches and grasses. Yes, they deserve a place at the table as well.
Mountain corgis enjoy work even at rest. It is rare that a meal will go by without a song from the corgi duo.
Usually, in the alpine environment, the male will sing out first. Maybe a song about squirrels or cats or maybe about a long lost bone.
Maybe a song of loss, maybe of joy or even of a meal once eaten long ago.
Every song needs a female side. A Yin to the Yang; another point of view.
The intensity builds up as a timeworn message is given.
The solos become duets, spiking the mountain air with a fever.
Sometimes the music goes on and on. A quick piece of sausage, cheese or bread can silence the lyrics as suddenly as they began.

Hi! my first and the best VT friend :)Mark,Thank you very much in advance ;)I am reading your last trip in TR.I think there is no page about St.Paul Trail on VT. I am looking forward to reading it.Guess ,how the Little Man happy now ,since you came back home .Cheers to the Pacific .
Think I'll pass on that $80K buy-in. How's the snow up there? No snow (at least not natural) down here. Will have to travel up to Seattle on Prez Day weekend for some downhill action.
The White Mountain Road looks like a lovely drive. Maybe someday we will get to this part of the USA.

Hi and Merry Christmas Mark. Have a blessed day and festive season and all the best for 2012!
Hi Mark! Thanks for visiting Berchtesgaden. I think the only time you wouldn't like it there, was if the weather was bad! The scenery to us Aussie's was fantastic!
Happy Thanksgiving, Mark :-)
Hello, Mark!
I see. Thanks for your explanation.
I think that Slovenia also has a nice nature.
Best regards from a cold but still dry Belgrade,
Jasmina
Thanks for the Birthday wishes. I am guessing that you have seen that link on my page to summitpost. Have you ever gotten on that site. I've been pretty obsessed with it for quite some while. It seems right up your ally.
WOOF. Thank you for the nice message!!!
Loved your album dedicated to your loyal little Queen. My Musashi was named after the famous Samurai Warrior. I am sure both of them are up there being pampered in the Royal Court! ;-) Cuillin looks as regal as his predecessor! Enjoy your time with him!
