Walls and Wine -- Ahrweiler! | Path surrounding Ahrweiler's town walls |
Medieval Ahrweiler used to be surrounded and protected by a water trench. Nowadays the water has gone and it's possible to surround the city walls on this wonderful path. Note the vineyards in the background. |

| | There are so many neat details in Ahrweiler, it's such a pleasure just to keep walking through the streets and watching |
| | Near Ahrweiler, the Ahr is a tranquil river |
| shady street along the Ahr river banks |
| | If you catch a really hot day, head for the banks of the river ahr -- the banks are lined with trees providing shade. It's possible to follow the river in this fashion all the way from Ahrweiler to Bad Neuenahr (2,5 km). The street is open for cars, but it's also an official bike track -- bikes clearly prevail!!! |
| | Ahrweiler is a shopper's paradise with a still intact mixture of small, individually owned and managed shops. |
