Cartoon Art / Manga / Animation
You will see cartoon art everywhere in Japan. My favourite is this, the Astro Boy. Astro Boy was created in 1952. |
Fastfood Restaurants
Not as widely seen in Japan. Fastfood restaurants are everywhere but MacDonalds are pretty hard to come by.
I am wondering what is the Japanese name for MacDonalds.
In Japan, you may forgo this chain of fastfood as there are many other fastfood chain serving Japanese food. Try them. |  | |
Mobile Phones
Everyone has a mobile phones. Japanese are furious mobile phone users. They are fond of sms-ing, same as in Singapore.
Clam shell phones are popular and they are various designs. These designer pieces shown in the picture are exceptional as firstly, they are not clam shell and of course, yuo see them in the modern art museum too. | | |
Technology
Advanced in technology, it is not surprising to see/use automated toilet bowls in Japan. By depressing the buttons by the side, various functions may be activated, from warming the toilet seat (good during winter) to washing to blow-drying. | | | Check out the various automation |

Typical Bus Stop
Usually non-sheltered but schedules of buses are clearly shown at each bus stop. Get up from the back, queue in a line like what all the others do and pay as you alight. | | |
Vending Machines
This is known as convenience. From buying cigarettes, buying drinks and beer to even making a NISSIN cup noodles. You name it, Japan has it. | | |
Reaching Out for the Sky
Walking along the streets, seomtimes, you will be able to spot some nice sculptures and art pieces. | | |
Japanese Shop-Front
Neat and nicely decorated, this is a typical Japanese store-front. They are usually built low. | | |
