France-A Synopsis

by Toyin - last update: Jan 8, 2008

Monaco

Monaco-Day B4 2004 Grande Prix
This picture was taken in Monaco. This was on the 22nd of May, a day before the last Monaco Grand Prix. It was difficult getting into Italy via Monaco that day, as that was my original plan.
So I have to use the period to explore other towns and villages between Monaco and Nice.
Chantilly-Classics (Nov 2004)

Chantilly

This was evening of 11th Nov 2004. I went to Chantilly to view this Chateux, the environment was a spectacle. It looks very familiar, was I here before?

The Arc? No TE.

I took this view from under the tower. The feeling is electrifying, no doubt.
Tower Eiffel
Orange-France

Orange

Really, Orange is a town lying about 450miles south from Paris. It is a home to one of the leading mobile communication company in France. I got to this town at about 1400hrs on the 23 May 2004 on my way from Nice. I stopped over to have lunch at the Macdonalds here.

Lyon

On my way to Monaco, I had a stop over in Lyon. For a fast driver, it takes about three hours to drive from Paris to Lyon. It is a peaceful town with lots of parks like this. Somehow, I seem to like the towns than Paris itself.
Lyon - park
Royan-Beach house

Royan

Well, what everyone told us, was that this beautiful town was severely attacked during the WWII. By the allies who mistakenly thought the Germans were still here then. This building was recently renovated, facing the Royan beach.

Paris

The picture was taken specially for this page. It is a rare picture of the Eiffel tower. I took it inbetween a street that linked Trocadero from Avenue Victor Hugo. Below, you'll see the Foch which actually lies within those gree vegetation you see in this particular picture.
The Eiffel Tower
Foch-Paris

Foch

The legend is widely known by most of you, and his stature adone most towns and cities in France. I have even sighted this monument in London during my last trip. For those of us that doesn't know, this guy on the horse is Marshal Ferdinand Foch (French Commander of Allied Forces during the closing months of WW1, 1918)

"Air planes are interesting toys but of no military value" -Foch!
