Leaving... In all, 10 of us made the trip down to Hlalanathi, in two VERY loaded cars... Was a bit squashed, but it made us all want to get there quicker! |
The Trip... This one was taken from just above the Oliviershoek pass, looking at Sterkfontein dam, one of the biggest in South Africa. |

The Hike... We left bright and early Saturday morning, hoping to get to the gorge before everyone else... The views along the way are amazing! |
Still carrying on with the hike, this viwpoint is just before you descend into the gorge and reach the lunch spot. |

After the lunch stop, we continued up the gorge, by means of the chain ladder followed by the gulley. Not for the faint hearted! |

Getting back to the campsite... This was pretty much the feeling of most of the group! 18km was a bit much for some of them! |

You made a small error. The cannibals were not bushmen, they were Zulus who chose not to submit to Shaka. Shaka was a tyrant, and his impis were sent out to destroy those who did not submit to him. Some hid in caves and resorted to cannibalism to survive. |
