France - Belgian frontier - Belgium. | French - Belgian Frontier. |
I left Paris about 6pm, on the evening of August 10th heading first to Berlin. I had a little bussiness to conduct in the morning of 11th August in Berlin, ..So my movement was rapid and through the night.. For other would be travellers, going through Berlin was actually way off from Norway, but, I had to buy a van in Germany during this trip and the company were in a hurry to get the deal all over with, as we had dragged it for a while through proxies. |
| | The German Border - Germany What else can I say, I also arrived here in the middle of the night... I had a 9 oclock rendevous in Berlin and time wasnt on my side. Sleep was also competing with my time. But, I have to keep awake and drive as hard as I could. I had promised my business partners that I keep to time, and I was not in the mood to prove myself wrong. |
German-Danish Frontier. -Denmark. ....Business done, and after having a huge German Lunch, I headed for Copenhagen...this was the most complex part of the trip, as I had to look for the best point to cross by Ferry or Bridge..I was not confortable with the idea of crossing by any boat or ferry that night. What I did was to take a longer route from Hamburg to ensure I cross at the point of one of the longest bridges in Europe. The German police were at this time stalking my strange looking car in the night.
| | Life in DANHOSTEL Copenhagen.-Denmark. ....Arrived Copenhagen from Berlin early in the morning, and started looking for hotel to stay. This was most difficult, since I didnt book already via internet. In the long run, I have to settle for DANHOSTEL, At this time, the most important thing is where to lie, and freshing up. It was really fun in the long run, as I have to struggle in the kitchen with other tourist to cook. The Chinese, Arabs, Indians, British, Germans ..etc were cooking , grilling, baking..ah! various aroma. I caused a stir, when I started my special African cuisine. I became an instant celebrity..lol! |
Crossing into Sweden. ....I remember talking to Simeon while contemplating going into Stockholm. When it became obvious that Sim wont be available, I change my iteniery. I decided to head for Goteborg. I had my eyes on Oslo. | | | Crossing to Sweden from Denmark |
|
| | The high way to Stockholm - Sweden. ....Even while on this highway, I was still thinking about Stockholm, but my heart was to go in the direction of Oslo, so I went to Goteburg. |
Architecture - Sweden. .....In Goteborg, I noticed a lot of constructions going on in the city..by this time, I was realy starving. So I headed for this building. After the meal, I had the option of staying the night here, but when I called my hotel in Oslo, they told me am being expected that day. I looked at the map, and felt, it is achievable if there won't be too much speed control. So, I continued to Norway. Sparcely populated, well organised country...Sweden and Norway.
| | Oslo - Norway. ....It was a good feeling to make it into Oslo from Paris. On my hotel bed that night, I started to ponder about how on earth will I make it back to Paris..by this time, I wish, I could cargo my car, and make it back to Paris by air. However, I had a camping plan for Netherlands, and I just have to do it by road.
Drivers wanted!!!
Spent two days in Norway, and headed back south...The second night, I was in Emmen in Netherlands, and the following day I continued driving south towards Cham, also within the southern part of Netherlands, where I camped for another four days. This part, I really love. Then, I drove into Brussels and Antwerpen, spent the day and continued to France in the night.
Back home, I rested for two days in Paris before I headed to CDG and then to New York , where I spent about ten days between Yonkers, Newport and Boston, before calling it a day in Paris? ..ooops!!! |
