The Rucksack Pro-Tector

On my latest trip to Nepal this year I placed a second order for another batch of Rucksack Pro-Tector's, Also I have now spread into other travel accessories that I found unavailable elswehere.
All my goods are designed by a Backpacker for practical use by backpackers and are available on my web-site at Pro-Tector

The Rucksack Pro-Tector

Have You Ever had a Rucksack Destroyed by an Airline ???? I have, Three Times now !!!! So I thought that it was time to do something about it -- and This is the outcome !!!! Designed by a Backpacker for Backpackers. This " Bag " is Made from Strong waterproof fabric, sturdily constructed with double thick base and lower edge, It is fitted with a " Stiffening " strip which runs the entire length of the " Bag " and the integral handle is stitched through this for added strength and weight distribution, The seams are Double stitched and then an Extra strip of waterproof material has been fitted and stitched over them to increase the water-resistancey to an even greater level. It has brass eyelets that take a padlock to cut down on petty pilfering.
The " pro-tector comes in three sizes,

The Trekker ----up to approximately 50 litres -- weight - 10oz (283g). Dimensions -- 32 inches ( 820mm ) in hight and 48 inches ( 1220mm ) in circumference.

The BackPacker ---- approximately 50 to 80 litres -- weight - 12oz (340g). Dimensions -- 36 inches ( 915mm ) in hight and 54 inches ( 1370mm ) in circumference

The GlobeTrotter ----approximately 80 to 110 litres -- weight - 14oz (397g). Dimensions -- 42 inches ( 1070mm ) in hight and 60 inches ( 1525mm ) in circumference

Please note " The pro-tector " works at its best when your rucksack is a snug fit inside it and your rucksack doesn't wobble around, so please take the time to measure your own rucksack and buy the Correct size pro-tector to suit it -- then your pro-tector will protect it Better and Last Longer !!!!

At The Airport

It couldn't be easier, when you arrive at the airport take the " pro-tector " out of it's little stuff-sack and simply pop your Rucksack inside and check it in.
Most airlines will allow you to then check your " Bag " in as " Normal luggage " saving you the hassles of having to locate the " limited liability " section.

The "Rucksack Pro-Tector " comes in its own little Stuff-Sack.

This " Bag " has a second function and that is it can be used as a water-resistant liner once your rucksack has arrived " safely " at its destination.

The " pro-tector " will help ensure that your Rucksack reaches its destination Dry and in one piece !!

Please Note -- Although there are quite a few other products on the market claiming to protect your Rucksack / Backpack whilst in transit, mine is one of the very few with a second function. Other similar products leave you with he question of what you do with it for the rest of your trip -- To carry something around with you for an entire backpacking adventure and only have the opportunity to use it for a few hours whilst transiting isn't exactly the most efficient way of doing things !!

Testimonials from people that purchased My Items

Hi Rob

Got back yesterday, late our flight went through Heathrow so was cancelled. Pro-tector worked really well, most people in our group used some form of protection for their bags, but we did see people who didn't and I'm glad I did. Would recommend it to anyone.
Greg Dyer, Cardiff.

Hi Rob,

I've just taken a quick look and it seems to be really well-built and bomb-proof, if I can say so!
I'm sure that I won't be disappointed with it: I'll write You back with my feedback but I will also try to advertise it with friends and people I now.
Last but not least, let me tell You it has been a real pleasure to deal with You.

Hi Rob,Just arrived from an inter-island trip and I am pleased to report that my backpack and the pro-tector survived the flight and bus trip. I regret not having taken a picture of the sack as it appeared on the baggage carousel... The others on the same flight who had backpacks checked in had theirs ending up not really damaged, but dirty.

I found a nice little padlock with a short cable, as you suggested. Works perfect. I can even discard the cord.

Pro-Tector Aims and Ambitions

1) By purchasing a product from Pro-Tector you are helping support workers and their families in Nepal who are fairly paid.

2) When and If my products start to sell in some volume, then it is my Sincere wish to put back a percentage of my profits into supporting some of the less fortunate families of Nepal.

When I decided to start my Rucksack Pro-Tector and Travel accessory business the first thing that I had to decide was where to have my products manufactured. As I had already visited Nepal, at this point three times and had fallen in love with both the country and its people, Nepal seemed the Obvious choice.
I was however aware of certain drawbacks in basing the manufacturing part of my new venture there, The First Big downside is that Nepal is a land-Locked country, Therefor All my products have to be Air-Freighted back to England which is obviously a lot more expensive than shipping them by sea, Also as the political regime is, to put it mildly, a bit unstable, then I also risked loosing any money that I have there on Deposit. However, In Spite of these and many more lesser restrictions, I decided to follow my Heart and go ahead with production in Nepal, as at least by providing some employment, at a fair rate then I both then felt and still feel that I am doing my Small part to improve the peoples lot over there.
So after extensive trials on my prototype Rucksack Pro-Tector, I booked a flight to Kathmandu and there talked to several manufacturers and inspected their factories. I wanted to ensure that employees were fairly treated and paid at least the going rate. I didn't want my products manufactured under a "Piece Work" arrangement as I believed and still believe that this would be both to the detriment of the employee and the product.
I eventually settled on a family run, Kathmandu based company called P.G. Garments to manufacture my products as they pay there staff slightly above the average, they don't employ child labour and every time I visited the factory there always seemed to be a Happy atmosphere there.
So in 2004 I returned home with some sample pieces of my Rucksack Pro-Tector and the rest of the order followed me a couple of weeks later by Air-Freight.
I went live with my web-site in the summer of 2004 and traded slowly but surely for a period of 12 months before Disaster struck. I was defrauded out of my original www.pro-tector.com name and there was No way of me being able to get it back. The British Police were involved and the person who defrauded me, I am Pleased to say is now serving a custodial sentence in one of Her Majesties Prisons, But All this didn't get me control of my web-site back !!
So, This year, I returned to Nepal and ordered a new batch of my Rucksack Pro-Tectors and also Two New Lines which I had designed, The Pro-Tector Wallet and the Documents / Valuables Pro-Tector Travel Pouch.
As some of you will no doubt know, Nepal was in political turmoil earlier this year, But in spite of this, My Good Nepali friends manufactured my order and it was Air-Freighted back to England in May of this year.
June of this year so my New www.pro-tector.co.uk web-site went live and Slowly But Surely orders are coming in.

So, To Recap
1) By purchasing a product from Pro-Tector you are helping support workers and their families in Nepal who are fairly paid.

2) When and If my products start to sell in some volume, then it is my Sincere wish to put back a percentage of my profits into supporting some of the less fortunate families of Nepal.
