"Nitmiluk National Park - Jatbula Trail" Katherine Travelogue by 1+1
Katherine Travel Guide: 63 reviews and 266 photos
Nitmiluk National Park lies about 30 kms to the east of Katherine and is centred mainly around the famous Katherine Gorge. It's a great place for walking and canoeing, after the wet season of course.
This travelogue covers one part of the park known as the Jatbula Trail which runs from the main Katherine Gorge across to Leliyn (Edith Falls). This covers about 66 kms and is suited to experienced walkers who have the 4 - 5 days available needed to do the walk. But it's well worth it. It's not really difficult but does require you to carry everything you need for the journey. There's nothing along the way other than remote wilderness.
For safety the Parks authority has installed ECD's (electronic call devices) along the way for emergencies

Looks like a wonderful place! I need to make plans to return to Australia! Gillybob greetings
Excellent stuff, quality pages. Loved the waterfalls. I even gave you a mention in my pages.
lovelypics of the sights along the way - looks a great/wellworth to make! beautiful Australia of course!
Hope you get around to scanning those pics one day Zig!
I could not agree with you more about the water... I was putting down about 5L a day!
Beautiful pix Zig. The waterfall and swimming hole ones are lovely!! Don't know if I'd be camping out there with those crocs though? :o) Cheers, Ann.
Wonderful pictures... what an amazing country you live in! Just not so sure I liked either the paper wasps or the croc! Just my silly phobias! Are palms native to Australia?
Good tip! Water is always needed in the NT. Most people forget that until it's too late.
So many of the towns seem to be named after womenfolk. Maybe the tough guys who first came into this area were missing their women.
