Old Paris

You can get a tour on Seine River by a ship (rather expensive or even very expensive) or just walk along the banks of the river. The Seine River in Paris looks amazing.

The Jewish quarter

The Jewish quarter in Paris, known as the Marais district is resonant with history.
You can learn about the history of the Jews in France, visit a synagogue and eat the best falafel in Paris there.

The Arch of Triumph

At the top of the Champs-Elysées is a circle 140m (450 feet) in diameter from which 12 imposing avenues radiate to from a star (étoile). From 1753 to 1970 it was called Place de l'Etoile, then was renamed Place Charles de Gaulle.
At 50 metres (164 ft), it is twice as high as the Arch of Constantine, which inspired it, and, at 45 metres (148 ft), a little more than twice as wide. Jean Chalgrin was the architect and François Rude sculpted the frieze and the spirited group. La Marseilleise (real title, The departure of 1792).
.
Tourists are allowed to go to the top for a great view of Paris.

Hôtel des Invalides and Napoleon tomb

The complex known as the Hôtel des Invalides was founded in 1671 by Louis XIV, the Sun King. He wanted to provide accommodation for disabled and impoverished war veterans. The building was completed in 1676 and housed up to 4,000 war veterans.
.
Starting in 1676 on request of the Sun King's war minister, the church Saint-Louis was built as an annex to the complex.
.
The church is connected directly with the Royal chapel, better known as the Dôme des Invalides. In 1840 Louis-Philippe repatriated the remains of the Emperor Napoleon from st. Helena, where he was buried after his death 19 years earlier. The Dôme des Invalides now also houses the tombs of several other military leaders like Turenne, Vauban and marshall Foch.

.

UNESCO headquarter

UNESCO, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, was established on 16th of November 1945.
It has its headquarters in Paris and 73 field offices and units in different parts of the world.
.
You can visit the UNESCO Headquarters building and works of art, daily from Monday to Friday (except on public holidays).

Hi Matt, your tips will help us on our 3 night stopover on the way to USA. Last time in Paris 1993, but did not see much.

Yes, it's a magical place. I spent ten days there last June and had a great time cycling all around and going to the operas.
